Cranberries are in the berry family of fruits. They contain high amounts of Vitamin C. They are grown in Mass. and are harvested in the fall.

Nutritional information per 1 serving of cranberries:
Vitamin C- 60 mg. Carbohydrates- 15 g. 61 calories


***The cranberry was a favorite of the Indians who invented cranberry sauce sweetened with maple sugar or honey.

***Cranberries are called BOUNCE berries because the ripe ones bounce.

***Cranberries are found wild in the sandy, cool temperature areas like MA and NJ

NEWS FROM THE CAFETERIA

Cranberries are not a food item served in our cafeteria regularly. On Thanksgiving and Christmas, we try to serve cranberry sauce. Very few children take cranberry sauce.
