Fun Facts: *The kiwifruit belongs to the berry family of fruits. It descended from a vine first found in China. *Many types of kiwifruit have been grown over the years, but the most popular varety is the Hayward. It is now the mostcommercially grown kiwifruit in New Zealand and the world. *When kiwifruit was first marketed, it was called the Chinese Gooseberry. It has later been renamed the "kiwifruit" after New Zealand's national bird, the flightless kiwi. *Kiwi is about the size of a large egg, is covered by a brown, fuzzy skin, is bright green with a yellow center, dotted by small, black seeds. A ripe kiwi is slightly soft to the touch, like a peach. It's flavor is sometimes described as a mixture between strawberry and melon. *Kiwi can be eaten easily by cutting it in half and scooping out the inside with a spoon.

The kiwi is a fruit that has the taste of several different flavors. Among those flavors are the taste of banana, strawberry, lemon, and orange. The kiwi is green in color and has a brown covering and looks like a coconut, but smaller. You can peel the kiwi and slice it and eat it as a snack or you can put it in a fruit salad. When making a fruit pizza, it is ideal, making the pizza look good and adding a special taste to the pizza. We do not serve kiwis in our schools but ut us a new idea to maybe add to our menus. the kiwi is not really expensive. You can usually buy them in your grocery store for 33 cents each. The kiwi is not grown in our area of Tennessee.
