Grading Scale: Rules:
A 93-100 1. Be in seat when bell rings.
B 85-92 2. No chewing gum, eating, or
C 76-84 drinking in class.
D 70-75 3. Bring necessary materials to class.
F Below 70 4. M.Y.O.B.

Grading Procedure:
To determine student grades a number of techniques will be used. Each activity will be worth a set number of points. Points will accumulate throughout the grading period. They will then be added and expressed as a percentage. Points may be earned as follows:

• Major tests..50-100 points
• Quizzes (announced and pop quizzes)....10-50 points
• Homework, note-taking, labs, study guides10-50 points

Course Description:
Chemistry is a course that explores the properties of substances and the changes that substances undergo. The student will investigate the following:

• Atomic Structure
• Matter and Energy
• Interactions of Matter
• Properties of Solutions and Acids and Bases

Please try to be present and prepared at each class meeting. Students are responsible for make-up work. They must ask for all needed work within 3 days of the date missed. Make-up work will be after school or during homeroom at arranged times. Failure to make-up any work will result in zeros for that grade.

• Plastic 3 ring notebook
• Pencil
• Paper
• Scientific calculator
