Prevention Strategies

· Training for students

· Training for teachers

· Training for administrators

1. Training for students: Students learn about bullying behaviors and how to be a part of the solution.
Empower the students to confront bullying. Use existing leadership groups to take on the project of school violence.
Implement support groups for victims and bullies.

2. Training for teachers and administrators: the staff will be taught to distinguish between normal peer conflict and bully/victim conflict and how to respond appropriately.

Discussion questions to determine bully/victim conflict or normal peer conflict:

1. How would a teacher determine what type of conflict is occurring between students?
2. What should a teacher do first?
3. Explain some typical responses a teacher might use to stop conflict.
